Chinese Healthcare Executives Benchmark Baptist Health Care's Culture of Service Excellence

Date: 03/15/2013

Baptist Leadership Group, the consulting practice owned by Baptist Health Care who is the nationally known pioneer of performance and service excellence in healthcare, welcomed executives from Dongxin Medical Group in Shangrao, Jiangxi in southwest China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region to Memphis, TN, for their national conference.  These executives traveled halfway around the world to learn about Baptist’s approach and model for achieving a culture of excellence that delivers quality clinical outcomes and high levels of patient satisfaction.

Guanghua Wu, CEO, and Yanlei Hao, MD read The Baptist Journey to Excellence: Creating a Culture that Wows! by Al Stubblefield, CEO Emeritus of Baptist Health Care and current President of Baptist Leadership Group, and knew the same principles can apply in their hospital.  “Our hospital is crowded with over 2000 inpatient beds.  We have to learn from the experts about how to take better care of them in the face of these challenges, to improve their health and the health of our community, said Mr. Wu.”

The executives spent two days with the Baptist Leadership Group team learning the strategies and tools that increase quality and safety in patient care, impact financial performance, and make deep connections with patients to create positive impressions of their care experience.  Their goal is to take these principles back to their hospital and model the Baptist approach, with a return visit next to continue learning and benchmarking.

“It’s exciting to see the impact Baptist has not only here in our country, but across the globe,” said Al Stubblefield.  “Our mission is to improve healthcare for the patients and families we serve, and our ability to have an impact on an international scale supports that mission.”
